Apprenticeship training scheme : The national scheme of apprenticeship training is implemented by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (Government of India), through the Regional Boards of Apprenticeship Training. The Government of Kerala vide order G.O. (Rt) 1900/79/H.Edn. Dt.09.11.1979 sanctioned SD Centre under the Department of Technical Education to arrange apprentice training for fresh Engineering graduates and diploma holders in the State.
Objective : The objective of the scheme is to provide practical training to fresh Engineering Graduates and Diploma holders in industries and other organizations to make them employable. The apprenticeship training opens the door for an individual to develop confidence to face the vagaries of the society in which he/she lives.
Monthly stipend : The existing minimum monthly stipend rates as recommended by the Central Apprenticeship Council and notified by Government of India vide Notific ation No: G.S.R. 686(E) New Delhi, dated 25.09.2019 effective from 25.09.2019 is as follows:-
Most of the industries are giving higher stipends and other facilities like subsidized canteen, conveyance etc.
Certificate of proficiency and preference in employment : The Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR), Chennai will issue Government of India certificates to the candidates who successfully complete one year training under the scheme. This certificate is considered as experience for employment under Central/State establishments by vide letter no:F.36-14/96-TS:IV, New Delhi dated 06/05/1997 and GO(Ms.) No: 635/2013/H.Edn, Dated 05.10.2013, Thiruvananthapuram. Some private industries absorb the candidates after apprentice training and Central Government industries give preference to them for the permanent employment.
Enrollment for apprenticeship training : The candidates who would like to undergo apprentice training have to register their name in the SD Centre. Filled up enrollment form along with attested copies of consolidated or final mark list and provisional or original certificate with original treasury chalan receipt for necessary fees are to be sent to the Assistant Director, Supervisory Development Centre, NAD Road, Kalamassery-683104. Placement cell of the college or concerned department heads can take initiative to collect the applications and forward to the SD Centre. Fee : As per GO (MS) No. 48/2002 HEdn Dated 21.05.2002 & GO(P) No. 409/2014 Fin dated 23.09.2014, the enrolment fee for B.Tech is Rs.80 (General) and Rs.45 (SC/ST) and that for Diploma is Rs.65 (General) and Rs.35 (SC/ST) respectively. The fee can be remitted in any treasury in Kerala in the Head of Account 0202-02-800-94-OR.
PlacementApart from apprentice training, some small and medium private organizations approach this office for the recruitment of their permanent employees. Overseas recruiting agencies also approach this office for candidates.
This office issues panel of candidates to the organizations based on their request. We issue branch wise panel of candidates which contains the address, percentage of marks, email & phone number etc of each candidate. The organizations conduct test/interview and select the trainees.
Apart from issuing panel, we conduct centralized walk-in-interviews in association with Board of Apprentice Training, Chennai at various centres in Kerala to select trainees. As many as 25 to 50 industries used to participate in each programme. This programmes are helpful to the candidates as well as organizations because each candidate is given opportunity to attend interview in any three organizations of his/her choice and the industry can select the right candidate from a large mass within a minimum time.
We help the organizations for the recruitment of their permanent employees by giving panel of experienced and fresh candidates and conducting interviews.
